What is the TriCity Challenge?

The TriCity Challenge is a mini-Triathlon created to generate funds and awareness for the financial assistance program at the Fox Valley Family YMCA.  All proceeds from this event will go toward the financial assistance program.  This way, many less fortunate families in your community will benefit.  In addition, the Tri-City Challenge will unite the three communities of Yorkville, Plano, and Sandwich for a fun and friendly competition.  The race is open to anyone from any city, so put a team together or sign up as an individual and join the fun!

The TriCity Challenge can be for individuals or teams of  2-4 people.  The first segment of the race is canoeing 5 miles, the second is biking 13 miles, and the final segment is running a 5K.  The starting point for the first segment is at the Yorkville River Front and it ends at Silver Springs State Park.  The second segment, biking, begins at Silver Springs State Park, extends through Plano and Sandwich, and ends at Valley West Hospital.  The third segment, running, completes the race. It begins at Valley West Hospital and ends at our West Branch in Sandwich.

The 2008 7th Annual TriCity Challenge will be held May 4th.

This year we are encouraging YMCA/Valley West Hospital The Biggest Loser Competition participants to join in on the TriCity Challenge as a motivational/goal setting experience and a way to earn more points in the competition!
