Our History

1979 Our organization was created through the hard work and efforts of our Board of Directors who wanted a
YMCA for their community.

1992 Over the years we grew from community based programs to store front facilities before building a +50,000
square foot facility in Plano, known as the Central Branch, in 1992.

1999 A capital campaign was held to construct the 8 lane indoor Aquatic Center at the Central Branch.

2002 An expansion was completed added more space to the Wellness Center at the Central Branch.

2005 We opened our West Branch in Sandwich. Our current YMCA service area covers over a 28 mile radius,
incorporating over 20 communities. Last year we served over 22,000 members.

2007 The addition of the 11,000 sq. ft. Early Childhood Center, incorporating Day Care and Preschool rooms, was
completed at the Central Branch.
