  • Racers must be 14 yrs old unless accompanied by an adult.
  • All canoers MUST wear a life jacket.
  • All bikers must wear helmets.
  • No weaving or biking/running side by side unlesspassing.
  • No headphones allowed.
  • Bikers must take extreme caution when crossing RT 34.
Participants that register as an Individual must complete all three segments of the race, on their own.
 
Race time is 8:30 am, so arrive early to get your transition areas set up. A shuttle bus will leave the West YMCA at 7:30 am, for racers who leave their cars at the finish.
 
To kept the event moving and avoid post competition delays this year there will be two shutes. Racers with the white bib will cross chute 1 all other racers MUST cross chute 2.
Description: 2011 Tri-City Challenge
  The Tri-City Challenge is a mini Triathlon fundraising event to generate funds and awareness for the Strong Kids Campaign a financial assistance program at the YMCA.

  2. Bike 13 miles
  3. 5K run
All participants that register as an INDIVIDUAL must complete all three segments of the race on their own. Race time is 8:30 am sharp. Arrive early to get your transition areas set up.
Canoe Rental: Special Deal
  Canoes can be rented by going to the Freeman Sports website, or by calling (630) 553-0515.

Canoe reservations must be made by April 29th. Please pay Freeman"s directly.

Canoe:

START: Yorkville Riverfront, 201 E Hydraulic St, Yorkville

You will canoe SOUTHWEST down the Fox River.
 
FINISH: Exit Fox River at transition area (Silver Springs boat ramp).
 

Biking:
12.5 miles
 
START: Bike transition area (Silver Springs boat ramp).

  1. Head West through Springs State Park.
  2. Turn RIGHT onto Fox Rd
  3. Turn RIGHT on Fox River Dr
  4. Turn RIGHT onto River Rd
  5. Turn LEFT onto Eldamain Rd
  6. Turn LEFT onto Schaffer Rd
  7. Turn RIGHT onto Hale St Cross RT 34.
  8. Cross RR tracks on Hale St
  9. Turn LEFT onto W Abe St
  10. Continue to Creek Road
  11. Turn LEFT onto Frazier Road
  12. Continue to Pratt Rd.
  13. Turn LEFT at N Latham St
  14. Turn RIGHT onto Pleasant Ave to Valley West Hospital
FINISH: Valley West Hospital - 11 E Pleasant, Sandwich

  1. Head west on E Pleasant Ave.
  2. Turn RIGHT on N Main St.
  3. Turn LEFT onto Knights Rd.
  4. Turn LEFT onto Spruce.
  5. Turn LEFT onto West Pleasant Ave.
  6. Turn RIGHT onto N Main St.
  7. Turn RIGHT on W Arnold St.
  8. Turn LEFT on Castle St.
  9. Turn LEFTon Boulevard St.
  10. Turn RIGHT on Main St.
