Member of the Month JANUARY 2012 (Tiffany Haag)

Tiffany Haag has been a member of the Fox Valley Family YMCA and in gymnastics here at the Y for 14 years. Tiffany started in our pre-school classes and worked her way up to team where she competes as a level 8. Tiffany is captain of our competitive team and as such is a wonderful role model for all of our gymnasts. Not only do they love to watch her practice in the gym and compete, but they love working with her. No matter what she is working on, she never misses an opportunity to give pointers and helpful advice to the younger girls. Tiffany is one of the most dedicated gymnasts we have had. She has had her share of injuries over the years and fights her way back to be ever stronger every time. Where some might give up, she pushes forward. When asked how the YMCA gymnastics program has influenced her life, her response was “Gymnastics has taught me to always try my hardest and never give up”. In her 14 years as a gymnast, she has won AA in many competitions and has won State Titles twice. In 2006 she was the YMCA Level 6 State of Illinois Champion and in 2008 she was the YMCA Level 7 State of Illinois Champion. You may have seen her green signs displayed on Rt. 34 in Somonauk. The signs now proudly hang in our Gymnastics Training Center here in Plano.

Tiffany lives in Somonauk with her Mom, Dad, Brother and Sister, who is also a gymnast here. The family is a busy one, always on the run, so having the Y so close to home helps ensure the girls get to practice each week. Tiffany is now a senior at Somonuak High School, so this will be her last season with us as a gymnast. She is very much looking forward to the competition season ahead, which will end with Nationals in Wisconsin as part of Milwaukee’s Summerfest in June of 2012.
